FEBRUARY 2017 Newsletter

Only 3 weeks into the New Year and there’s already a lot to report!… about my ‘Sticks in the Smoke’ exhibition, Tanya’s Wild Wood exhibition at Shaftesbury Arts Centre, the last 2 days of our WINTER SALE. And, I’m really excited about my New Teaching Studio! To find out more, read below.

Meanwhile, I’m over the moon and honoured to be shortlisted for the Arts and Culture category in the 2017 Wiltshire Life Awards. The ceremony is in March, so I’ll let you know how it goes. Hmm, that gives me a month to get my suit dry cleaned!

There’s an illustrated interview about my work, featuring in The Artist Magazine  this month. Click here to view the article.

WINTER SALE- ends 4 February!

We’ve had lots of visitors and some good sales at our Bull Mill Studio WINTER SALE over the past three Saturdays. Now only 2 Saturdays to go: 28 January + 4 February, 10am – 5pm.  It will be great to see you if you can make it, we promise to keep the woodburner roaring for you, so you can stay as long as you like, with a plentiful supply of tea and coffee!

In the back studio we have a mixed selection of pieces, prices reduced by up to 50% (In the front we’ll be showing recent work which will be at gallery prices.)

‘STICKS IN THE SMOKE’ Exhibition..

The exhibition for my ‘STICKS IN THE SMOKE’  project will open at the Curwen Gallery, Windmill Street, London on 5 April 2017 and runs until the 29th. The Private View will be on 4 April, 6 – 8pm, it would be great to see you there if you’re able to make it. On show will be around 60 studies ( like ‘Lower Grosvenor Gardens’ at the top of the page), based on drawings made at 60 public green spaces in London over the past year. There will also be a few larger works but I’ll be producing a collection of larger pieces for a follow- up show in 2018. My sketchbooks will also be there (see below, a recent sketchbook drawing at Millbank Gardens), but I’ll be happy to show you them beforehand at my studio. View my ‘Sticks in the Smoke’ blog here.

A proportion of the exhibition sales will go to support the SENSORY TRUST, a charity which aims to make green spaces more accessible and enjoyable for all people, regardless of age, ability or social circumstance.  www.sensorytrust.org.uk

For more information about the ‘Sticks in the Smoke’ exhibition, please view the News Release here. If you know anyone who might be interested, or any contacts you might have in the arts news media, I’d be very grateful if you could forward this to them. Thank you!

TANYA HINTON ‘Wild Wood’ Exhibition..

Tanya is working hard towards her exhibition at Shaftesbury Arts Centre  from 1 – 14 March 2017. I can see already that it’s going to be a stunning ‘must see’ show, full of her unique paintings of characterful creatures on wild and weathered wood, including ‘Bombur’, below.  Go to www.tanyahinton.jimdo.com for more information and images.
