My ‘Sticks in the Smoke’ project began in January 2016: each week visiting, researching and drawing a different public garden or park in Central London (from the City of London, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and the city of Westminster). This research is presented in a weekly blog and is leading to a collection of paintings exploring the theme of city green spaces from the perspective of a rural landscape painter which will lead to an exhibition in London in 2018 (sadly, the original planned exhibition at the Curwen Gallery, London in April 2017 was cancelled as Curwen Gallery has had to close unexpectedly.
